Chinese navy enters disputed area with Japan

Four Chinese maritime police patrol ships have entered the area off the disputed Senkaku (Diaoyu) Islands in the East China Sea, which Japan considers its waters.

According to Kyodo News, a warning has been sent to the ships of the People’s Republic of China from the Japanese Maritime Safety Administration demanding to leave this area. It is noteworthy that Chinese ships have been near the Senkaku Islands during the past 20 days.

In September 2012, Tokyo announced the purchase of the Senkaku Islands from private owners of Japanese nationals. After that, mass protests erupted in China, accompanied by the destruction of Japanese restaurants and businesses. Since then, Chinese ships have regularly sailed near the disputed archipelago and made explanatory visits to its coastal region.
