The International Council of the Hermitage Museum is suspended

The Hermitage Museum and the International Advisory Board of the Hermitage Museum decided to freeze the work of the Council for an indefinite period.

The members of the Council unanimously agreed to suspend their work “until further notice”. At the same time, they hoped to resume contacts with the Hermitage in the future.

Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director General of the Museum, commented on the decision, “I am sincerely grateful to all the members of the International Advisory Council on Communication, which was a real intellectual pleasure, and which helped the Hermitage to become significant and successful in the “forest” of modern museum life, something new for him” .

The Advisory Board of the Hermitage emerged in 1994 under the auspices of UNESCO to develop cooperation between the Hermitage and the international museum community. The members of the Council are the past and present directors of the most important museums in the world and organizers of inter-museum cooperation.
