NATO Secretary General retains his seat for another year

Jens Stoltenberg said on Twitter. NATO leaders have agreed to extend his term as the organization’s Secretary General for another year due to the situation around Ukraine.

“I am pleased with the decision of NATO leaders to extend my term as Secretary-General until 30 September 2023. As we face the greatest security crisis of our generation, we preserve the unity of our alliance and the security of our peoples.”

Stoltenberg’s term as NATO Secretary General ends in September this year. Before that, the members of the coalition had to decide on a new Secretary-General. After resigning, the politician was supposed to take office as head of the Norwegian Central Bank on December 1.
