Slovakia decides to pay for gas in rubles

The head of the Ministry of Economy of Slovakia, Richard Solek, said on air on Slovak TV, that it is not possible to stop the gas supply to the country.

The minister said: The gas supply cannot be stopped. That’s why I say, although this may be too practical for some. “If there is a requirement to pay in rubles, then we pay in rubles.”

He added that about 85% of the required gas comes to Slovakia from Russia. According to him, several years are needed to diversify the fuel supply, and there are about six weeks left to resolve the current situation.

I advocate working together on this issue within the European Union and searching for a common solution. “But we cannot be isolated from gas,” Solik summed up.
