UK suffers from gas surplus
The UK has been importing large amounts of natural gas lately and is facing an oversupply.
According to Bloomberg, in the current quarter, Britain will receive the bulk of the record volume of natural gas imported to the territory of Northwest Europe. Fuel will be delivered to three stations.
However, Bloomberg emphasizes that the UK has a problem storing large reserves of gas. The country’s heating season is coming to an end, there are not enough storage facilities (the largest of which were closed in 2017), and transferring the surplus to the EU – as the authorities usually do – is now difficult due to the limited capacity of existing pipelines.
