Interpol chief under investigation after accusations of involvement in torture

The French judiciary launched an investigation into accusations of involvement in torture. Against the head of Interpol, Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi.

According to media reports, France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office, who instructed the Paris investigative judge, confirmed it to conduct an investigation. That investigation began at the end of March. Through a complaint filed by two Britons.

Before that, in January, France’s National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office received a complaint against the INTERPOL chief. He was charged with torture and inhuman treatment, including against Ahmed Mansoor, a human rights activist from the United Arab Emirates. Then the complaint was filed by the Center for Human Rights in the Gulf States, a non-governmental organization.

It is noteworthy that before that, a similar complaint was already filed against the main. However, at that time, the head of Interpol did not live in France. Now, according to the NGO, it is on French soil, where the headquarters of Interpol is located.
