The Journalists Association organizes a symposium on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day in Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah, May 10 / WAM / The Emirates Journalists Association, in cooperation with the Ras Al Khaimah Environmental Protection and Development Authority, organized a symposium entitled “Journalism in the Face of the Environmental Crisis” on the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, which comes this year under the slogan “Journalism for the Planet.” Journalism in the face of the environmental crisis.
The symposium was presented by His Excellency Dr. Saif Al Ghais, Director General of the Environment Protection and Development Authority in Ras Al Khaimah, and lawyer Dr. Ibrahim Al Mulla, in the presence of His Excellency Salem Rashid Al Maftul, Member of the Federal National Council, Brigadier General Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director General of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, and Fadila Al Muaini, President of the Journalists Association, Advisor Dr. Asma Al Ketbi, President of the Emirates Geographical Society, and a number of journalists and those interested in the environmental sector.
Dr. Saif Al-Ghais stressed that the role of the media should be focused on increasing the awareness of community members about environmental issues, highlighting the importance of promoting practices that contribute to the sustainability of natural resources, and motivating individuals to take personal measures to reduce their environmental impact.
For his part, lawyer Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mulla reviewed a number of legal controls for media publishing in the environmental field, which are legal tools designed to protect the environment and preserve its natural resources.
For her part, Her Excellency Al-Muaini confirmed that the session comes within the association’s work agenda to enhance cooperation between state institutions and members of society and provide the public with the opportunity to discuss daily issues.
