Experiments of the Russian fleet succeeded in intercepting torpedoes using hydroacoustics:.

The crew of the Neustrashimy patrol ship of the Russian Baltic Fleet tested the ship’s hydroacoustic system in the post-factory sea trial stage, according to the press service of the Western Military District.

It should be noted that the hydroacoustic system is designed to illuminate the underwater situation, search and detect submarines, mines and torpedoes.

The system can also detect underwater saboteurs at different ranges and depths while in motion, in Fearless tests, the station’s effectiveness in detecting underwater targets at long distances was tested.

It is reported that for this purpose, several torpedoes were launched from the small anti-submarine ship Aleksin of the Baltic Fleet towards Neustrashemi. According to the press services of the Western Military District, the main task of the tests was completed in full – the crew of the ship, using data from the hydroacoustic station, interacted with other ship systems that ensured the use of weapons.

The film “Fearless” was created as a high-tech, high-speed ocean hunter for nuclear submarines. He entered the Russian fleet in 1993, and in 2014 he was sent for repairs.

During work on the ship, all analog equipment was replaced by digital. The ship is also equipped with a new combat information and control system (CICS) – a modern complex of electronic computing equipment and other technical means, which is designed to automatically generate recommendations for controlling weapons and the entire ship.
