Iranian oil tankers transport Russian crude

Bloomberg reports that tankers that once carried Iranian oil are now transporting Russian crude, citing shipping analytics firm Vortexa.

According to Vortexa employees, since the beginning of April, 11 such tankers have been involved in the transportation of Russian oil and petroleum products, which have made at least 15 loadings during this period.

Analysts say most of these ships are small enough to carry up to 730,000 barrels per voyage. At the same time, according to their estimates, the daily volume of transportation of Russian petroleum products on these ships by July amounted to 250 thousand barrels. Two months ago, this number reached 170,000 barrels per day.

Bloomberg journalists attribute these changes to the sanctions imposed on Russia that have been in effect since the beginning of the escalation of the conflict in Ukraine.

Local suppliers are being forced to abandon traditional partners in favor of companies that used to operate under sanctions and demand a price hike.

Earlier it was reported the termination of container traffic from Russia to the largest transport port in Europe – Dutch Rotterdam. Against the background of the decline in supplies of Russian raw materials in recent months.
