Russia withdraws from the International Space Station project –

The head of Roscosmos, Borisov, announced Russia’s decision to withdraw from the International Space Station project after 2024

In a report sent to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the head of Roscosmos, Yuri Borisov, said that Russia has decided to withdraw from the International Space Station (ISS) project after 2024.

“You know that we work in the framework of international cooperation on the International Space Station. Of course, we will fulfill all our obligations to our partners, but the decision to leave this station after 2024 was made,” said Borisov.

In addition, the head of Roscosmos noted that by that time the state corporation will begin to build the Russian orbital station.

On July 6, the head of the press service of Roscosmos, Dmitry Strogovets, reported that the International Space Station can descend to a height at which it will begin to burn up in dense layers of the atmosphere over a period of two to five years, while its orbit can be corrected only by Russian means .

Russian cosmonauts will not use the European ERA manipulator mounted on the Nauka module on the International Space Station.

This decision was made in response to the European Space Agency’s refusal to cooperate with Russia on the ExoMars program.

Roscosmos has been involved in the project since 2012, but now plans to launch a research mission to Mars independently.
