Taiwan announces live-fire exercises
Cairo: Hani Kamal El-Din – Taiwan will conduct live-fire exercises using American M109 and M110 howitzers.
“Artillery maneuvers will be conducted in order to increase the combat readiness and firepower of the armed forces,” the army said.
The shooting will take place at the Fenggan training ground in Pingtung, and will include military personnel from the 43rd Artillery Brigade, 33rd Motorized Rifle Brigade, Hualien Defense Command and eastern Taiwan, as well as the Coast Guard.
In addition to the American howitzers, several other pieces of artillery equipment from the arsenal of the Armed Forces will be used in the exercises.
Army aviation, special forces and snipers from Taiwan’s joint arms battalions will also be trained at the training ground in Pingtung.
Earlier, the Chinese army command on social media urged soldiers to prepare for war. Later it was clarified that it is about the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army of China.
Meanwhile, Chinese media have indicated that the United States and China are on the brink of a “big war” due to provocations with a visit to Taiwan by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who intends to visit the island at a hot time.
