China lodges protest with US over Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan
Chinese authorities have lodged massive protests with the United States amid the provocative visit to Taiwan by Nancy Pelosi.
According to the representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Hua Chunying, the actions of the US side could undermine China’s sovereignty.
“Beijing has made some serious protests to Washington on this matter,” Chuning said.
According to the Chinese diplomat, Pelosi does not defend democracy in this way, but only seeks provocations.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan as an attempt by the United States to prove its impunity. The Russian minister indicated that he could not say what prompted the United States.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, also described Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan as an “unruly act”.
