Premier League confirm new date for Tottenham’s clash with Nottingham Forest, as top-flight chiefs are forced to move the fixture on just 10 days notice due to planned tube strikes

The Premier League have confirmed that Tottenham’s clash with Nottingham Forest will change date due to planned tube strikes.

Ange Postecoglou’s side had been set to host Forest on Monday April 8th but the tie has now been moved forward to 6pm on Sunday April 7th.

In a statement, they said: ‘The Premier League apologises unreservedly to supporters of both Clubs, and all those affected, for the inconvenience and disruption caused by this late fixture change.

‘The change has been made due to matters beyond the League’s control, namely the decision to implement rail and tube strikes on Monday 8 April and the subsequent reduction in available travel services.

‘This has resulted in the local authority’s Safety Advisory Group determining that it is not possible to stage the match with the required levels of safety for attending fans’.

In their own statement, Tottenham said: ‘All tickets will remain valid for the new date – we shall shortly be contacting all ticket holders to outline options if they are no longer able to attend.

‘We shall also provide an exclusive purchase window to Season Ticket Holders whose tickets were previously forwarded via Ticket Share or sold on the Ticket Exchange. This group of supporters will be contacted directly with further information about this process.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused to fans by this fixture amendment, which has been made for reasons beyond the Club’s control’.

The late change to the fixture – on just 10 days notice – is likely to cause issues for a number of fans, with some likely to have already booked travel routes.

Back in January, tube strikes caused chaos for fans travelling to Arsenal‘s FA Cup clash against Liverpool.

Due to ‘little to no service’ on the lines, thousands of supporters were left needing to sort new plans for their respective routes home.
