Times, scores, undercard, how to watch, odds, schedule, Michael Zerafa v Erislandy Lara

Three years ago, Michael Zerafa and Tim Tszyu were about to square off in Newcastle for one of the most hotly anticipated Australian domestic fights in years. We had enjoyed the Danny Green and Anthony Mundine rivalry of course, but at the time, this fight had everything going for it.

Zerafa had followed Tszyu all over Australia, calling him out over ringside to give him an opportunity to prove who was the best in Australia, before finally getting his long-awaited opportunity.

The build-up didn’t disappoint with tension bubbling and insults traded, then suddenly Zerafa pulled out, citing concerns of COVID-19 travel restrictions between his native Victoria and New South Wales.

Tszyu didn’t give the Melbournian a backwards glance and moved on to bigger fights. He now refuses to even entertain giving Zerafa another opportunity of a big pay day after what happened in Newcastle.

Zerafa is a talented fighter and knows that if he can defeat the 40-year-old Erislandy Lara and win the WBA Middleweight belt, suddenly he brings something else to the negotiating table. It’s the fight of his life.

We will soon be getting ready for Zerafa’s ring walk in Vegas.
