"Madbouly" Follow up with "prestige" Arrangements for organizing the investment conference in cooperation with the European Union

Today, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, met with Hossam Haiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, to review the arrangements for organizing the investment conference in cooperation with the European Union, and a number of the Authority’s activities.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed the state’s focus on creating the investment climate and facilitating the business environment, to attract more foreign and local investments, and achieve positive results that support the national economy.

 

The Prime Minister directed the formation of a small working group from the Council of Ministers, the Investment Authority and the relevant ministries to prepare the technical files for the investment conference, which will be held in cooperation with the European Union, next June 29, including the agenda and speakers, the most important topics to be presented, and agreements. The cooperation that will be signed, in addition to the logistical file for the conference.

In this context, Hossam Heiba ​​said: This year should be the year of promoting investment in Egypt, in light of the presence of a positive reaction in various countries of the world to the decisions. The last steps taken by the state, and we have a plan to promote investment, advantages and incentives for investment in Egypt.

During the meeting, Hossam Heiba ​​reviewed a report on the results of his recent visit to Belgium, during the period from 19 to 22 last February, indicating that this The visit came within the framework of the ongoing preparations for holding a joint investment conference in Egypt in cooperation with the European Commission in Brussels.

Heiba ​​said: The visit included a large group of meetings and encounters with senior officials from the European Commission and the Belgian and European private sector, noting that European officials expressed their appreciation for the economic reform program implemented by the Egyptian state, and their keenness to participate in the conference. 

He said CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones: European Commission officials confirmed their readiness to cooperate with the Egyptian side regarding the arrangement and preparation for the conference, as well as the European Union’s aspiration to establish new ties with Egypt by increasing the rates of trade exchange and enhancing investment levels.

Heiba ​​added: European Commission officials indicated that the establishment of renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in the Middle East region is being studied in coordination with the southern neighboring countries. Among them is Egypt, for export to Europe. They also touched on the importance of the investment conference including a road map that stipulates specific steps to facilitate trade and restore confidence to companies wishing to invest in the Egyptian market.

He indicated that during the meetings he held with officials Europeans, it was noted that the conference will focus on sectors that represent a priority for Egypt and the European Union, especially energy, including green hydrogen and renewable energy, green technology, agriculture, food security, and others, adding: As an Egyptian side, we indicated during these meetings that we are open to Adding other sectors to the conference sessions may be proposed by the European side in agreement with Egypt.
