Fortitude Valley, Brisbane: Son is charged with murder after his mother’s body was discovered with stab wounds in an apartment

A 66-year-old woman has been found dead with knife wounds in an alleged domestic violence murder.

Her body was discovered at an address on Brunswick Street in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley at about 1.30pm on Tuesday.

Queensland Police confirmed later that evening that a man, 42 – who is her son – has been charged with the alleged murder.

The woman’s body was discovered at an address on Brunswick St, in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley on Tuesday about 1.30pm.

‘Police made forceful entry into a unit and found a deceased female,’ Inspector Karl Hahne told reporters.

‘As a result of further investigations, a male person is now at the Valley police station helping detectives with their enquiries.

‘A crime scene has been declared, so forensics, detectives and our uniform officers are on the scene at the moment.’

Inspector Karl Hahne said at this stage there is no further threat to the community.

‘We believe this threat has been contained, so our investigations centres on finding out what occurred today and the days leading up to today,’ he said.
