President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, said – In his speech on the occasion of his taking the constitutional oath in the House of Representatives in the New Administrative Capital to assume a new presidential term – "I pledge to God and I pledge to you… that I will remain loyal in my work… my eyes only see your interests and the interests of this country… armed with your determination and your good origin… and preserving the covenant and promise… to beloved Egypt, its dear people and above all to God Almighty.

 

President Sisi continued: “In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful {Lord, you have given me dominion and taught me the interpretation of hadiths, Creator of the heavens and the earth, You are my guardian in this world and the hereafter, take me to death as a Muslim and join me with the righteous}.”

The session will be held at the new House of Representatives headquarters in the Administrative Capital, and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will take the constitutional oath before the members of the House of Representatives, in the presence of a number of guests and public figures, followed by the President delivering a speech to the nation, then leaving. The President is the seat of Parliament.

 

Procedures for the inauguration of the President of the Republic

The procedures for inaugurating the President of the Republic for a new presidential term begin on the same day, April 2, because the announcement of his victory in the 2018 elections was published in the Official Gazette on April 2, 2018, and in accordance with Article 41 of the Constitution, The current presidential term ends on April 1, 2024, and the president must be sworn in before beginning his new term.

The session will witness the procedures for President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi taking the constitutional oath, for a new presidential term starting from the day following the taking of the constitutional oath on next April 3 in accordance with Article 140 of the Constitution.

 

Inauguration procedures before the House of Representatives

Inauguration procedures take place before the House of Representatives in its new headquarters in the Administrative Capital. The President of the Republic assumes the duties of the country for a period of six Gregorian years, and members of the House of Representatives attend the session in accordance with the constitution.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Hanafi Jabali, and the two representatives of the House, Counselor Ahmed Saad and Representative Mohamed Abu Al-Enein, are scheduled to receive President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, after his arrival at the Parliament Building in the Administrative Capital. span>

The national anthem is played and artillery fires 21 shots; Greetings to President Sisi, after which President Sisi enters the headquarters of the House of Representatives hall, and the inauguration ceremony begins, with the participation of senior statesmen; In the forefront of them are the Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, and Pope Tawadros.

 

The Constitutional Oath of the President of the Republic

According to the text of Article 144 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic is required to take the constitutional oath, before assuming his duties before the House of Representatives.

The constitutional oath is:  “I swear by Almighty God to faithfully preserve the republican system, to respect the constitution and the law, to fully care for the interests of the people, and to preserve the independence, unity and safety of the nation. His lands”.
