Video shows water pouring out of a skyscraper in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan

HELL’S KITCHEN, Manhattan (WABC) — Water could be seen pouring out of a high-rise building in Hell’s Kitchen on Thursday morning.

Video from the Citizen app showed a large amount of water gushing from the building at West 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue.

According to the Department of Buildings, scheduled fire pump testing was conducted on the 19th and 32nd floors of the building’s construction project, which included sending water out of the building.

The testing is a standard part of the inspection process for new developments and does not pose a danger to the public, an official said.

They typically occur at night, but this one occurred during the day in part because most of the water was planned to land within the property lines, behind the construction fence, and did not require a road.

The fire pump in the new building passed inspection.
