The Public Prosecutor issues a decision determining the competencies of the Office for the Protection of Children and Persons with Disabilities

Within the framework of the Public Prosecution’s performance of its lofty mission to represent the social body and protect the interests of society, and its legal, social and humanitarian role in promoting, developing and protecting the rights of groups most cared for, especially children and people with disabilities; < /p>

 

Under Article 1 of that decision; With regard to child protection, the office is responsible for supervising child prosecutors, following up on their work, and monitoring the practical problems they encounter. And develop the necessary proposals to resolve them, review cases and judicial rulings related to children, inspect penal institutions and child care and rehabilitation institutions, receive reports and complaints related to their exposure to danger, examine them and take the necessary action regarding them, and take the necessary measures to protect the child in those cases in which he is exposed to violence, neglect or exploitation. Coordinating and following up with the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood and other agencies concerned with child protection regarding taking the necessary measures to support and enhance that protection, following up on cases of children disappearing or finding them and preparing a register to record them, and in addition to the above; The decision affirmed the office’s authority to follow up on issuing identification documents for children placed in deposit institutions or at risk, and to coordinate with the competent prosecution offices to issue decisions and follow up on the necessary procedures for that.

 

With regard to the protection of persons with disabilities The decision entrusted the office with receiving complaints and reports related to their exposure to imminent danger, exploitation in all its forms, abuse, or harm, examining them and taking the necessary measures regarding them, and taking measures to protect persons with disabilities from cases of exposure to imminent danger, exploitation in all its forms, abuse, or harm, and coordination and follow-up with prosecution offices. The competent authority to issue the necessary decisions to provide a safe environment for them, and follow up on this until the end of the situation of exposure to danger, exploitation, abuse or abuse, and coordination and follow-up with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities and other national authorities competent to protect persons with disabilities regarding taking the necessary measures to enhance and support that protection.< /p>

 

Article Two of the Attorney General’s decision requires prosecutors to notify the office immediately of incidents where the child is exposed to danger or important incidents in which he is a victim, as well as incidents of the child being lost or found. Also, incidents where persons with disabilities are exposed to danger or important incidents in which they are victims, and accelerating the issuance of decisions that facilitate the implementation of urgent measures and procedures taken by the office to implement the powers assigned to it, and following up on the implementation of these decisions until they achieve the purpose of issuing them and ending cases of exposure to danger.
