The length of the tunnel is 1,650 meters, with a capacity of 3 lanes in each direction, with a capacity of 12,000. One vehicle per hour in both directions.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, said: The tunnel implementation project is part of the Shindagha Axis development project, which is one of the largest projects currently being implemented by the Authority, and extends along Sheikh Rashid Street, Al Mina Street, Al Khaleej Street, and Cairo Street, with a length of 13. km, and includes the development of 15 interchanges, and serves a number of vital residential areas and development projects, the most important of which are Dubai Islands, Dubai Waterfront, Dubai Maritime City, and Port Rashid.

The population served by the project is estimated at one million people, and developing the axis will contribute to reducing travel time from 104 minutes to 16 minutes by 2030 AD.
He added: The project, which is part of the fourth phase, includes the implementation of the Gulf Street Tunnel with a capacity of 3 lanes in each direction and a length of 1,650 metres, to provide free and smooth traffic movement for those coming from the Infinity Bridge towards Deira and vice versa. It also includes developing the intersection of Cairo and Al Wuheida Streets from Roundabouts to intersections controlled by traffic lights, as well as implementing some improvements on Cairo Street, and connecting the bridge ramp coming from Dubai Islands to the new tunnel on Al Khaleej Street towards the north.

He pointed out that this phase of the project serves the areas of Abu Hail, Al Wahida, and Al Mamzar, in addition to the development projects, namely Dubai Islands, Dubai Waterfront, Waterfront Market, and Hamriya Port.
His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer explained that the Roads and Transport Authority is currently implementing the Sheikh Rashid Street development project from its intersection with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road, to Al Saqr Intersection on Al Mina Street, with a length of 4.8 km, and includes the implementation of 3 bridges with a total length of 3.1 km, with a capacity of 19,400 vehicles. per hour for all lanes, and includes the implementation of a bridge with a length of 1,335 metres, with a capacity of 3 lanes in each direction, to ensure the flow of traffic between Sheikh Rashid Street and Al Saqr Intersection. The capacity of the bridge is estimated at approximately 10,800 vehicles per hour in both directions.

It also includes the implementation of a 780-metre-long bridge, with a capacity of 3 lanes, that serves traffic coming from Al Saqr Interchange towards Al Wasl Road, with a capacity of 5,400 vehicles per hour, while the third bridge is 985 meters long, with a capacity of two lanes, and serves traffic coming from Jumeirah Road to Al Mina Street towards Falcon Intersection, with an estimated capacity of 3,200 vehicles per hour.

The project also includes the development of 4.8 km of roads, in addition to developing surface intersections on Jumeirah Street, Al Mina Street, and Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Street, and the construction of two pedestrian bridges, the first on Sheikh Rashid Street, and the second on Al Mina Street. The project also includes road lighting works. Traffic systems, rainwater drainage network, and irrigation systems network.
It should be noted that the Roads and Transport Authority has developed a number of intersections within Al Shindagha Axis, including the opening of the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Oud Maitha Street (Wafi Interchange), and the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, which included the construction of two bridges on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Street. Zayed Street, with a capacity of two lanes in each direction, a bridge from Zabeel Street towards Sheikh Rashid Street, with a capacity of one lane, and a tunnel on Sheikh Rashid Street towards the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Street with Al Mankhool Street, with a capacity of 4 lanes in each direction, and 5 bridges were opened, providing bridged entrances and exits. Dubai Islands at the intersection of Al Khaleej Street and Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Street.

The total length of the bridges and ramps reached 2,571 metres, and their capacity is estimated at about 20,700 vehicles per hour.

It also opened a main bridge on Al Khaleej Street, 570 meters long, with a capacity of 3 lanes towards Bur Dubai, and a surface intersection on Al Khaleej Street, with Omar Bin Al Khattab Street. The bridge serves traffic on Al Khaleej Street coming from the Abu Bakr Al Siddiq Street intersection and traffic coming from Dubai Islands towards Al Shindagha Tunnel, with a capacity of 4,800 vehicles per hour.

At the beginning of last year, the Authority completed the Infinity Bridge, which is approximately 295 meters long, with a capacity of 6 lanes in each direction, in addition to a shared path for pedestrians and bicycles, 3 meters wide. The bridge is topped with an arch in the shape of the infinity sign, 42 meters high. The Authority also completed the Falcon Interchange development project, which includes the implementation of two bridges along Al Khaleej Street, the first with a length of 750 meters in the northern direction, and the second with a length of 1,075 meters in the southern direction, with a capacity of 6 lanes in each direction, with a capacity of up to 24 thousand vehicles per hour in both directions. The project also includes the construction of a bridge with a single lane for right-turn movement from Khalid Bin Al-Waleed Street to Al-Khaleej Street, with a length of 250 meters, with a capacity of up to 1,600 vehicles per hour, and the construction of a tunnel with a capacity of two lanes for left-turn movement from Khalid Bin Al-Waleed Street to Al-Mina Street, with a length of 500 meters. meters, with a capacity of up to 3,200 vehicles per hour, as well as the construction of a surface intersection controlled by a traffic light linking Al Khaleej Street with Al Ghubaiba Street and Khalid bin Al Waleed Street.
