Details of the largest meeting of the Egyptian sports movement in the presence of the Minister of Youth and the French Ambassador

The Egyptian Olympic Committee, headed by Engineer Yasser Idris, held a press conference to reveal the preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in the presence of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Eric Chevalier, the French Ambassador to Cairo, Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, Chairman of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, and heads of federations. First, Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, presented Thanks to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for his great support for Egyptian sports, which has witnessed great development over the past years.

The Minister of Youth and Sports continued, in his speech, that this conference is the largest meeting of the Egyptian sports movement from the Olympic and Paralympic federations, offering congratulations to the General Assembly of the Olympic Committee in its democratic form, praising the close cooperation. With international institutions and complete coordination between all parties in the interest of Egyptian sports.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi thanked Eric Chevalier, the French ambassador to Cairo, for his communication and interest in coordination with the participating Egyptian delegation. At the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Sobhi confirmed that he agreed with the French ambassador to attend a meeting of the Egyptian sports movement with members of the Egyptian Olympic Committee and the Egyptian Paralympic Committee for joint coordination between all parties, praising the relations. Sobhi continued. The French ambassador pledged to facilitate all procedures for the travel of the Egyptian delegation participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics, adding that Paris is celebrating the 100th anniversary of hosting the 1924 Olympic Games.

Dr. Ashraf Sobhi said that So far, 173 male and female players have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the target, according to the technical plans, was for 150 male and female players to qualify, exceeding the expected number of qualified players.

The Minister of Youth and Sports concluded his statements by saying that a conference will be held. A major celebration with the players who participated in the 2023 African Games, which were held in Ghana, in order to honor them for the achievement they achieved during the competitions.

Engineer Yasser Idris, President of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, welcomed Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, Chairman of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, the French Ambassador, and the heads of the Olympic and Paralympic Federations, the Olympic and Paralympic players, and the technical staff.

And after that, there was a strong move towards the podiums which is what results appeared in the last Olympic session, which is considered a success for the Egyptian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, represented by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi.

For his part, Dr. Hossam El-Din Mostafa, Chairman of the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, thanked Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, the French Ambassador, the Board of Directors of the Olympic and Paralympic Committee, the players, the technical and administrative staff, and the media.

Mustafa said during his speech: “I am happy to be here today with the leaders of the Olympic and Paralympic sports work. I have been working in the sports field for more than 30 years, and the great boom in Egyptian sports currently at the level of facilities and hosting tournaments has never happened before, and on this occasion I thank the minister for his efforts.” “The relationship between Egypt and France is historic and always witnesses great cooperation at all levels, and the presence of the ambassador is evidence of their great support, as well as the great support of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic.” “The great mutual interest.”

Mostafa stressed that after this meeting there will be great cooperation to qualify Egyptian cadres at the Paralympic sports level in coordination with the French Embassy and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. 

He added: “The important thing in Paris this time is that the opening ceremony will be held in an open place, specifically the Place de la Concorde, which is decorated with the famous Egyptian obelisk.”

He said: “For the first time, rowing, canoe, judo, and bucha are participating in the Paralympic Games, in addition to the other sports that we participate in, with a total of 13 sports and a number of players reaching approximately 70 male and female players.”

Mostafa stressed that the goal of the Paralympic players is to achieve distinguished results and win medals, and we will not be satisfied with only honorable representation.

Mostafa pointed out that the Egyptian Paralympic Committee, in addition to its work on the championship sector, has also developed a plan of action. In the file of social responsibility for qualifying cadres with disabilities, marketing, support, and media and academic strategy.

In his speech, Ambassador Eric Chevalier, the French ambassador, expressed his happiness to participate in the meeting that includes all sports parties in Egypt, thanking him in advance for his invitation to attend. In his speech during the activities of the Egyptian Sports Movement Conference, the French Ambassador presented a message to the Egyptian athletes who qualified to participate in the Paris Olympics, hoping that they would obtain the largest number of medals.

He pointed out that All travel procedures for the Egyptian delegation in Paris to participate in the Olympics were facilitated, in addition to providing various training centers in Paris to train Egyptian players and raise their level of preparation before competing.
