From now on, “it is Israel which has, in its hands, the assessment of this escalation and therefore the decision to respond,” analyzes the former Prime Minister. According to him, “there are two concerns for Israel, two particular targets” : “The first is the Iranian nuclear program”, “the second is Hezbollah which represents a threat to Israeli territory”. Dominique de Villepin does not rule out an Israeli response against these two targets and recalls that “in its great solitude, Israel first wants to rely on its own strength” to assert a “logic of action and independence”.
