Saudi Arabia regrets the failure to adopt a draft resolution on full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations

RIYADH, April 19 / WAM / The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expressed its regret at the failure of the UN Security Council to adopt a draft resolution accepting full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed, in a statement reported by the Saudi Press Agency, that obstructing the acceptance of full membership of the State of Palestine in the United Nations contributes to perpetuating the intransigence of the Israeli occupation and its continued violations of the rules of international law without deterrence, and will not bring the desired peace closer.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry renewed the Kingdom’s demand that the international community assume its responsibility to stop the Israeli occupation’s attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip, and support the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and establish their Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative and relevant international resolutions.
