"The Guardian": The crisis with Iran should not distract attention from the Gaza tragedy

The Guardian newspaper confirmed The British government said that the current crisis between Iran and Israel should not distract attention from the tragedy suffered by the residents of the Gaza Strip due to the war that broke out between the Palestinian and Israeli sides on the seventh of last October.

 

 

The newspaper indicated in an editorial that concerns still exist about Israel launching a ground attack on the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, despite Israel’s preoccupation with responding to the attack launched by Iran against it last week.

 

At the same time, the newspaper explains that hopes for reaching a ceasefire between the Palestinian and Israeli sides have begun to diminish in light of the current developments of events in the region.

 

< p>The newspaper added that the possibility still exists that the Israeli forces will invade the densely populated Palestinian Rafah who fled the scourge of bombing in the northern and central areas of the Gaza Strip, as reports indicate that the Israeli forces are preparing to launch a ground attack on Rafah and that they are deploying more forces and armored vehicles near the city.  

 

In this regard, the newspaper highlighted the statements of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, yesterday, Thursday, in which he expressed his fears that the Middle East region has become on the brink of an abyss and that any harm An estimate in calculations or any error may lead to unimaginable and dire consequences.

 

At the same time, the newspaper points out that the specter of many casualties during the conflict between Iran and Israel should not be avoided. To draw attention to the killing of nearly 34,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to data issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, pointing out that more Palestinians are expected to die due to the lack of sufficient humanitarian aid reaching the Gaza Strip in addition to the failure to reach a ceasefire.

 

In this context, the newspaper explained that the restrictions imposed on the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip and the collapse of the security situation there threaten the occurrence of famine in the Strip, especially in the northern regions.
