Iranian air defense failed to detect Israeli missile in Isfahan

An Israeli missile managed to hit Iranian air defense systems without being detected by Iranian radars. This was reported by The New York Times, citing sources.

According to the newspaper’s interlocutors, the attack was aimed at sending a signal to Iran that Israel could bypass and paralyze its defense systems.

Two Iranian sources told The New York Times that Israel managed to hit the radar of the S-300 air defense system stationed at the Shikari military base in Isfahan.

Investigative journalists who analyzed satellite images also reported that the target of the attack was most likely a radar. They show that the damaged radar itself remains in place, but other parts of the installation have been removed.

US intelligence sources say the Israeli strike achieved its goal.

At least one missile fired from a fighter was used. At the same time, the newspaper’s sources reported that Iranian air defense systems could not detect anything that invaded Iranian airspace – no missiles, no drones, no fighters.

Tehran, for its part, continues to claim that there is no destruction at the site where the S-300 is located near Isfahan.

The fact that Israel could strike Iran in response to a recent attack on its territory became known on April 19. This was reported by a US official, clarifying that Washington did not take part in the attack.

On the night of April 14, Iran attacked Israel with drones and missiles. This was done, Tehran claims, in response to a missile attack on a building belonging to the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1. About 170 drones and 150 cruise and ballistic missiles were fired towards Israel. Almost all of them were intercepted by the military of Israel, the United States and Jordan.
