Ministry of Finance: 24,789 suppliers registered on the digital procurement platform by the end of the first quarter

Abu Dhabi, April 22 / WAM / The Ministry of Finance’s introduction of the digital procurement platform in 2021 has brought about a radical change in the procurement experience of federal agencies and suppliers, as the federal government’s digital procurement policy aims to enhance and direct procurement processes to align with the UAE’s digital government strategy.

During the few years that have passed since its establishment, the platform has played a major role in linking federal agencies with suppliers, through an integrated network that facilitates communication and enhances the transparency of purchasing operations carried out by federal agencies, as a result of integrating the best technological and commercial practices. The importance of the federal supplier registry in the procurement platform has increased. Digital technology that works to link government agencies with suppliers, bringing the number of suppliers registered in the “registry” within the “platform” to 24,789 suppliers in the first quarter of the year 2024, a significant growth compared to the year 2021 in which the registry began operating, which then included 19,669 suppliers, rising in the year. 2022 to 21,997, and then to 24,418 resources by the end of 2023.

The Ministry of Finance aims to simplify purchasing procedures for federal agencies through the digital procurement platform, expand the federal supplier registry, speed up the overall process from 60 days to 6 minutes, and introduce new practices, such as electronic signature, online contracts, and involving all stakeholders in product purchasing processes. The supplier registry contributes to simplifying the customer’s journey, as the Ministry of Finance has provided a registration service on the home page of the Ministry of Finance website to facilitate registration, reduce the number of attachments required, and simplify the procedures of the Federal Supplier Register. Expressed by the five major transformational projects of the Ministry of Finance, including the first project, the “Federal Government Supply Strategy,” which aims to include new categories of suppliers to the federal government’s supply base, to support growth in the national economy, and to enhance the federal government’s efforts to expand and diversify the supplier base and raise Quality services and products for federal procurement at competitive prices.

Many registered suppliers view the digital platform as a strategic and vital project in the field of digital transformation, especially in managing purchasing operations at the federal level, enhancing spending efficiency in government work, and building effective working relationships between government agencies, as it has brought about a positive transformation in terms of efficiency, transparency, and monitoring spending and expenses. It is distinguished by its ability to continuously innovate and develop to keep pace with technological developments and improve the user experience. It also supports small and medium enterprises by setting indicators and initiatives to increase the rate of contracting with them, and issuing tenders that guarantee the participation of at least 2 to 3 of them.
