Sultan bin Khalifa bin Shakhbout praises Asia’s achievements in the World Chess Championship

Abu Dhabi, April 22nd / WAM / Sheikh Sultan bin Khalifa bin Sultan bin Shakhbout Al Nahyan, President of the Asian Chess Federation, praised the victory of the 17-year-old Indian young man Gokesh in the 2024 World Candidates Championship and his qualification to face the current Chinese chess world champion Ding Liren for the world title. Thus, the continent of Asia ensures the preservation of the world chess title for men and women and the continuation of Asian dominance in world chess.
Jokis shone remarkably in the World Chess Olympiad, which was held in Chennai, India, in August 2022, when he was 15 years old, contributing to the Indian national team winning third place in the world and the bronze medal. The Asian Chess Federation crowned Jokis the Best Player in Asia award during a ceremony. Asian Excellence Oscar 2023.
Jokic is considered the youngest player in history to win the Candidates Tournament, and thanks to his impressive results, experts nominate him to be the youngest player to win the Men’s World Championship in history if he succeeds in putting an end to the adventure of Chinese Liren Ding in the upcoming meeting between them.
