Man’s body is found in Sydney Harbour at Pirrama Wharf, Pyrmont

The body of a man has been found floating in a busy harbour the morning after Anzac Day.

Police found the body in the water at Sydney’s Pirrama Wharf at Pyrmont around 7.30am on Friday.

Pirrama Wharf in Pyrmont is near Sydney’s The Star casino. 

Officers from Sydney City Police Area Command, with the assistance of the Marine Area Command, recovered the body of a man believed to be in his 50s.

The man is yet to be formally identified.

 Sunrise have reported that emergency crews were called to Pirrama Wharf after reports a man’s body had been found by a member of the public.

An investigation has commenced and detectives are are at the scene along with plain-clothed officers.

They are currently going door-to-door at businesses and residences in the area gathering evidence.  

On Thursday night, two people including a 14-year-old boy were rescued from the water near where the body of a man was discovered early on Friday morning. 

Emergency services were called to Pier 2 at Walsh Bay after receiving reports two males were in the water just after midnight.

It’s understood the two people fell into the water.
