Strong competition on the third day of the African Judo Championship in Cairo

The competitions of the third day of the African Judo Championship, currently held in Cairo with the participation of 35 countries, began this Saturday morning, and will continue until April 28.

 

Today’s competitions will be held in 90 kg, 100 kg and over 100 kg for men, and 78 kg and over 78 for women.

 

The national team has so far won 4 gold medals, 3 silver and 3 bronze in the judo and kata competitions.< /p>

 

The medals for the judo team were as follows:

Ahmed Abdel Rahman (66 kg) – Silver Medal

35 countries are participating in the African Judo Championship in Cairo, namely:

 

Angola – Algeria – Botswana – Benin – Burundi – Cameroon – Cape Verde – Burkina Faso – Central Africa – Chad – Comoros – Côte d’Ivoire – Democratic Republic of the Congo – Djibouti – Gabon – Gambia – Guinea – Guinea Bissau – Kenya – Madagascar – Malawi – Mali – Mauritius – Morocco – Mozambique – Niger – Rwanda – Sao Tome and Principe – Senegal – South Africa – Togo – Tunisia – Tanzania – Zambia – Egypt.

The African Judo Championship competitions will be held during the period from April 24 to 28 in the Cairo Stadium indoor hall complex, and are of great importance due to it being one of the qualifying tournaments for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and the first place holder will receive 700 points.

The qualification system for the Paris Olympics in judo is based on collecting points through participation in international and continental tournaments. It is a difficult system that requires participation in the largest number of tournaments and winning titles in order to snatch the Olympic qualification ticket.
