Abu Dhabi Customs emphasizes the effective role of intellectual property in supporting the growth of the national economy

ABU DHABI, 27 APRIL / WAM / Abu Dhabi Customs attaches utmost importance to the intellectual property sector, out of its belief in its effective role in supporting the growth of the national economy, enhancing its competitiveness regionally and globally, and its close connection to achieving sustainable development goals.

In this context, the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs, in cooperation and coordination with its partners, organized a dialogue session on intellectual property laws, copyright and related rights in the sustainability of poetic works with the poet Sheikh Majid bin Sultan Al Khatri, as part of the activities of Abu Dhabi Customs Intellectual Property Week during the period from April 22 to 30. Today, it celebrates World Intellectual Property Day, which falls on April 26 of each year and this year comes under the slogan “Intellectual Property and Sustainable Development Goals… Building our common future with innovation and creativity.”

The dialogue session, which was attended by representatives of a number of government agencies, strategic partners, and officials and managers of Abu Dhabi Customs, addressed the role of poetry in serving society, highlighting noble cultures and values, and introducing intellectual property laws and the efforts of the United Arab Emirates to protect copyright and its creative and intellectual production in various fields, especially literary. This is done by developing intellectual property systems and legislation in accordance with the best practices followed globally, and providing a suitable and stimulating climate for creativity and innovation and the ideal environment to attract creators and innovators from all over the world.

The activities of Abu Dhabi Customs Intellectual Property Week also witnessed the launch of intellectual property and copyright competitions, in addition to the organization of 6 educational workshops for employees and customers in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, the Trademark Owners Council, and a number of companies in the private sector.

Abu Dhabi Customs was keen to keep pace with developments in cooperation with its strategic partners by adopting the best practices, innovations and advanced technologies to simplify procedures, develop services, raise performance efficiency, and establish a culture of innovation and creativity in customs work in a way that enhances the integrated protection of intellectual property rights and reduces violations facing patent holders, innovators and trademarks. It contributes to creating an environment that encourages investment and business practice.
