"Delma Historical Festival" Increases the value of the competition prizes accompanying the seventh edition

Al Dhafra, April 27 / WAM / The organizing committee of the Dalma Historic Race Festival announced that it has raised the value of the prizes for the competitions accompanying the seventh edition, to reach 33 million and 274 thousand dirhams, distributed over 41 competitions for which more than 1,000 prizes have been allocated.

The seventh edition of the Historic Delma Race Festival will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and will continue until next May 5 on Delma Island in the Al Dhafra Region in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The festival will witness the “Dalma Historical Race for 60-foot sailboats,” which is the main race that fans of traditional marine races await every year, in addition to 40 accompanying races and competitions, including the Dalma Heritage Rowing Boat Race, the Dalma Stand-Up Paddleboarding Race, and the Dalma Fishing Championship. Poetry competitions, bicycle races, running and swimming, beach soccer, beach volleyball, badminton, carrom and domino tournaments, cooking competitions, folk games, drawing, photography, videography, children’s and visitors’ traditional competitions and other distinguished events and competitions.

The festival’s competitions are designed for various categories of men, women and children, including athletes, talented people, amateurs, professionals, and fans of traditional competitions and games, as the number of participants is expected to exceed 4,000 participants in the various races.

The Delma Historical Race Festival, through its various competitions and events, is keen to revive the local maritime heritage, preserve the national identity, preserve the Emirati heritage, and introduce the public, including citizens, residents, and tourists, to the importance of the maritime heritage and the heritage of the Emirati islands, in addition to supporting productive families, reviving the island’s local market, and consolidating its position. The festival is a new tourist and sports destination.
