"Miral" The highest rate of visits to Yas and Saadiyat Islands will be recorded in 2023

Abu Dhabi, May 6 / WAM / The Miral Group announced record numbers of visits to Yas and Saadiyat Islands in 2023, as it witnessed a significant increase in visits to destinations, which contributes to establishing new standards in the tourism and entertainment sector in the emirate.

Miral revealed, during its participation in the Arabian Travel Market 2024, that Yas Island recorded more than 34 million visits, an increase of 38% compared to 2022, which recorded 24.9 million visits.

Saadiyat Island witnessed a growth in the number of visits by 44% compared to 2022.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaabi, CEO of Miral Group, said: “The record numbers confirm our commitment to strengthening the position of Yas Island as one of the most prominent global destinations for entertainment and recreation, and Saadiyat Island as a leading beach, natural and cultural destination.”

He added, “In line with the Abu Dhabi Tourism Strategy 2030, we aim to provide new destinations and entertainment and cultural experiences that enhance visitors’ experiences, provide sustainable value, and contribute significantly to enhancing tourism growth and economic diversification of the emirate.”

The entertainment parks and CLYMB Abu Dhabi on Yas Island witnessed an increase in the number of visits by 83% in 2023, compared to 2022.

At the regional level, visits from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries witnessed a remarkable growth of 125% compared to the previous year. Theme parks across the island also saw a significant 167% increase in international visits, particularly from visitors and tourists from India, the UK, Russia and Germany.

Yas Island also witnessed a significant growth in its entertainment events in 2023 by 87%, exceeding public expectations, as more than 560,000 participants gathered to enjoy world-class concerts, shows, family and sporting events. The destination also received 23 meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition tourism groups, witnessing an increase of 77% compared to the previous year, with an overall increase in the rate of spending of 62% compared to the previous year.

These results were driven by the partnership concluded by Miral with the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau, which resulted in the establishment of the Abu Dhabi Convention and Exhibition Bureau and Miral Joint Fund for Business Events, to enhance the emirate’s position as a preferred destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions tourism.

In the summer of 2023, theme parks across Yas Island saw a 96% increase in visits in July and August compared to 2022.

Hotels on Yas Island also witnessed a significant growth of 90% in hotel occupancy rates during the period from June to August.

Yas Island is also scheduled to witness several new development projects, including the expansion of “Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi” with an additional area of ​​​​16,900 square meters, which will include an impressive addition of 3.3 kilometers of new slides scheduled for completion in 2025, and “Harry’s World Magical Potter”, which is the Harry Potter entertainment area in “Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi”. Other additional projects include the development of a 560-meter beach destination, forming a new addition to the entertainment and modern lifestyle experiences at Yas Bay Waterfront.

Upcoming attractions on Saadiyat Island, in cooperation with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, also include the TeamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi project, which will soon welcome visitors by providing inspiring spaces where art meets technology to stimulate curiosity, imagination and creativity in all visitors, in addition to the Natural History Museum in Abu Dhabi, which is expected to be the largest of its kind in the region.
