The day after tomorrow.. the launch of the international conference for"Cairo media" On climate change and the green economy

launching the day after tomorrow Wednesday, the activities of the 29th International Scientific Conference of the Faculty of Information, Cairo University, entitled “Media and the Transition towards a Green Economy in Light of Environmental and Climate Changes,” and will continue over the course of Wednesday and Thursday in the conference hall of the Faculty, under the patronage of Dr. Muhammad Othman Al-Khasht, President of the University, and under the supervision of Dr. Thuraya Al-Badawi. , Dean of the College and Chairman of the Conference, and Dr. Wissam Nasr, Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research and Secretary-General of the Conference.

 

The conference opens at 10 a.m. on Wednesday,  with a speech&nbsp ;Dr. Wissam Nasr, Secretary General of the Conference and Vice Dean of the College for Postgraduate Studies and Research, then Dr. Soraya Al-Badawi, President of the Conference and Dean of the College, and Dr. Ahmed Attia, Head of the Social Solidarity Sector at Nasser Social Bank, and Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Al-Saeed, Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Research, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Othman Al-Khasht, President of Cairo University, and Prof. Dr. Hussein Al-Atfi, Secretary General of the Arab Water Council and former Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Dr. Nevin Al-Kabbaj, Minister of Social Solidarity, Prof. Dr. Andrea Medrado, Vice President of IAMCR International Research, and Senior Lecturer at Westminster College of Media and Communications, and Prof. Dr. Sami Taye,  Professor at the Faculty of Mass Communication, Cairo University and Head of the UNESCO Media and Information Literacy Alliance. 

 

  The opening session of the conference will also witness the presence of representatives of state agencies in the field of environmental and climate development and green technology, including Dr. Samah Saleh, Head of the Sustainable Development Department and Head of the Women’s Empowerment Unit at the Ministry of Environment, and Dr. Naayem Saad Zaghloul, Head of the Media Center of the Council of Ministers, and Eng. Mohamed Ghanem, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Ambassador Hisham Badr, Assistant Minister of Planning for Strategic Partnerships, Excellence and Initiatives, as well as Eng. Khaled Al-Attar, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Administrative Development and Digital Transformation.

 

Dr. Muhammad Othman Al-Khasht, President of the University, stressed the importance of the issue discussed at the conference, which relates to the role of the media in raising awareness. The public is interested in the issue of climate and environmental changes and their various impacts on sustainable development in light of the huge challenges the world faces in confronting climate change and reducing its negative repercussions.

Dr. Thuraya Al-Badawi, President of the Conference, spoke about the importance of raising awareness of Arab and international efforts concerned with environmental issues. And climate, and the use of media and communication technologies to achieve sustainable development goals, the responsibilities and challenges of communicators in the field of environmental media, and the media coverage of environmental and climate issues and their effects on the public, which is what the conference addresses through its various research sessions and rich discussion panels.

Dr. indicated. Wissam Nasr pointed out that the conference includes 8 research sessions covering 35 papers, and 5 discussion panels, in which an elite group of academics and experts participate to discuss media coverage of environmental and climate issues and the public’s attitudes towards them, and to enhance the role of formal and informal institutions in the field of environmental development, and the role of the media in raising awareness of development issues. Sustainable development, and strategic visions for developing digital media, as well as digital environmental media and its role in achieving sustainable development. 

It is worth noting that the discussion sessions are led by a group of experts and academics from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Nigeria. India, Bangladesh, South Africa, the Philippines, Slovenia, and Algeria. It also includes several episodes in Arabic spoken by experts, professors, and deans of media colleges in Egypt.  

 

The Arab seminars revolve around Egyptian climate challenges from the perspective of environmental media, Egyptian media experiences in supporting sustainable development goals, and modern research trends in the field of green marketing. Foreign media visions and initiatives to save the planet, climate change communications, media education and challenges. 

 

An elite group of academics, experts and practitioners in the media field participate in the conference activities; To exchange views and strategic visions on several topics dealing with media and issues of environmental and climate change, as well as to exchange knowledge, ideas and experiences about the role of traditional and digital media in the transition towards a green economy in light of sustainable development plans. 

 

It is worth noting that the Faculty of Mass Communication at Cairo University holds international accreditation from the German AQAS Foundation, making it the first Egyptian Mass Communication Faculty to have all its study programs and scientific departments internationally accredited.

The Faculty also holds the ISO certificate in… The quality of administrative work several times.
