DIRECT. Giro 2024: the peloton reduces the gap with the breakaway… Follow the 4th stage

An arrival for sprinters… in theory. For this 4th stage of the Giro, Tuesday May 7, the peloton is expected in large numbers on the Via Aurelia d’Andora, along the Mediterranean, after 190 kilometers from Acqui Terme. But the massive sprint might not take place, since the organizers have concocted a stage that could well benefit a long breakaway, with the ascent of the Melogno pass halfway through.

With an intermediate sprint at the start of the climb, and another at the bottom of its descent, the only pass of the day could be a springboard for a group of strong people. This would require the favorites to give up the bonuses to be won in these sprints, which seems unlikely given Tadej Pogacar’s attitude since the start. In the last kilometers, the short climb of Capo Mele could also skim the peloton before a small group sprint.
