ABU DHABI, 7th May / WAM / Today, our national jiu-jitsu team continued its brilliance in the youth category competitions (under 18 years) within the eighth edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The UAE champions in the under-18 category succeeded in raising the country’s tally in the junior and youth competitions to 28 colored medals: 7 gold, 4 silver, and 17 bronze.

Our national team players were able to win 5 golds, 2 silvers, and 12 bronzes today. Dana Al Buraiki, weighing 40 kg, Salem Al Qubaisi, weighing 56 kg, Al Anoud Al Harbi, weighing 44 kg, Abdullah Al Darmaki, weighing 85 kg, and Zamzam Al Hammadi, weighing 57 kg, were crowned with gold. .
The silver medals were won by Shamsa Al-Amiri, weighing 48 kg, and Kholoud Al-Balushi, weighing +70 kg, while the bronze medals were won by Hirah Al-Dhaheri, weighing 40 kg, Maitha Al-Muzaini, weighing 48 kg, Moza Al-Rashidi, weighing 52 kg, Shouq Al-Balushi, weighing 70 kg, and Ibrahim Al-Mansouri. Weight +85 kg, Mansour Al Balushi and Dhiab Al Darmaki weighed 48 kg, Obaid Saeed Al Ketbi and Omar Younis Al Raisi weighed 52 kg, Hareb Al Hammadi weighed 62 kg, Ali Al Taniji weighed 77 kg, and Majid Al Shamsi weighed 85 kg.

His Excellency Yousef Abdullah Al-Batran, a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “The performance of our youth today on the mat deserves praise and appreciation, as it was characterized by dedication, discipline and determination, which contributed to continuing excellence and achieving a distinguished number of colorful medals.”

He added: “Our sons and daughters showed the highest levels of responsibility, and were keen to follow the successful path of their teammates in this tournament,” pointing out that these achievements achieved by the national team in its various categories are the result of the unlimited support of the wise leadership to ensure the superiority of the country’s sports and its people in various forums. .

He continued: “The Union’s well-studied strategy contributed to investing in talent to produce a generation of champions who are proud to represent the nation in the largest tournaments, by providing the best training opportunities for players from internal and external camps, using the best training experiences in the world, and following up on the players’ development and growth, to ensure the continuation of the journey.” Achievements in the future and consolidating the country’s leadership on the global sports scene.”
Azizbek Tukherov, coach of the Uzbek national jiu-jitsu team for juniors, said: “We are happy to participate in the eighth edition of the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which is hosted by Abu Dhabi, in accordance with the highest international standards. Our players succeeded in achieving an appropriate number of colorful medals, including four golds, 6 silvers, and 13 bronzes.”

He added: “Given the strength of the competitions and the volume of participation, what we have achieved brings us many strategic gains. We have a clear and ambitious vision about the future of the game in Uzbekistan and we plan to be among the continent’s best teams in the next five years.”

For his part, Khalifa Salem Andes, father of Ahmed, the national team player for the under-18 jiu-jitsu category, said: “I came here to encourage my son, who is participating in the 69 kg competition. He performed well and reached the semi-finals. He was not lucky in being crowned today, but I am confident that he will finish.” The lessons learned from this experience will be to develop and refine his skills to improve his performance in upcoming tournaments. Dana Al-Bariki, the national team player in the under-18 category, who won gold in the 40 kg category, said: “The competition in my weight category was intense, due to the presence of many strong players. But the true strength of the UAE champions appears in difficult times. I dealt with today’s fights with the utmost concentration.” I was patient and used highly efficient techniques that I had previously trained with the technical staff, and I applied them in the best possible way, especially in the final match. I believe that this victory is a translation of the great work and unlimited support we receive from the federation and the technical staff, as well as teamwork and the spirit of one team.”

In turn, Salem Al Qubaisi, the national team player who won the 56 kg gold medal, said: “Today I achieved my dream of climbing to the podium with the UAE flag. I was very optimistic about achieving a positive result since the first fight, and I gradually developed my style and method in confronting competitors. I made a double effort and the guidance contributed.” “The coach helps me maintain control over my competitors during fights. There is no doubt that achieving the gold medal in the Asian Championship is a historic achievement that will motivate me in the upcoming competitions.”

Today, the competitions of the various jiu-jitsu categories that fall within the tournament continued, with the teams of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan showing great brilliance.
Tomorrow, the champions of our national team will participate in the fights of the under-21 category, and the technical staff is relying heavily on the players in this category because they have experience that enables most of them to win medals, in light of the distinguished results they achieved during the World Championship in Kazakhstan last year.
