Terry Crews Hopes ‘Everybody Still Hates Chris’ Has “Longevity” Of ‘Family Guy’ & ‘The Simpsons’

With the animated revival of Everybody Hates ChrisTerry Crews hopes to be voicing patriarch Julius Rock for years to come.

The Everybody Still Hates Chris star recently expressed hopes that the Comedy Central series will enjoy a “20-year longevity,” matching the likes of long-running animated shows like The Simpsons (1989-present) and Family Guy (1999-present).

“To do it again animated, we can go forever,” said Crews in an interview. “That’s the plan. Let’s get some of that Family Guy, Simpsons kinda stuff. I want that 20-year longevity on that show.”

After Everybody Hates Chris ran for four seasons on UPN/The CW from 2005 to 2009, recounting Chris Rock‘s childhood as a skinny Black nerd from a working class family in 1980s Brooklyn, the comedian returned his narrator role with the animated revival that premiered in September.

Crews and Tichina Arnold reprised their roles from the original series, voicing Chris’ parents Julius and Rochelle Rock.

The Emmy nominee added, “To do the live action and the bring it back as an animated show years later, it’s a dream. I know the character inside out. Me and Tichina Arnold—she actually taught me how to act back when I was doing that show.”
