Megyn Kelly slams ‘LESBIAN’ makeover at CBS Evening News and says new anchor Tony Dokoupil is too much like Oprah

Megyn Kelly slammed the rebrand of CBS Evening News, calling it a ‘lesbian’ makeover and comparing the new evening anchor, Tony Dokoupil, to Oprah Winfrey.

Kelly, 55, spoke bluntly on her show today, claiming that CBS News’s choice of anchor was influenced by the fact that the new editor-in-chief, Bari Weiss, is a lesbian.

‘I figured it out. Bari is an out lesbian, and she’s in a marriage to another woman, and they have kids, and so on. This is a lesbian’s idea of what women want. Like, he’s sweet, he’s soft, this is what this is going to sell,’ Kelly said.

The former Fox News anchor also went after Dokoupil today, mocking him by calling him ‘T’Oprah’ to suggest he is overly emotional like a View star.

‘CBS Evening News is officially launched with its new anchor, “T’Oprah” Dokoupil. That’s what I call him, because he’s crying and constantly trying to therapize us through the news.’

The network officially launched the new anchor on January 5, but the viewers and buzz have slipped since his debut.

The evening show is down 23% in viewers compared to the same period last year, losing nearly a quarter of its audience, Variety reported.

On his broadcast Tuesday, Dokoupil delivered a ‘monologue’ that sent Kelly into a spin.

‘You may not agree with everything you hear on our broadcast, but we trust you to hear it, and we trust you to decide for yourselves,’ the CBS anchor said about the major stories that dominated the first two weeks of 2026.

Kelly labeled him ‘patronizing’ and said he gave off ‘Stuart Smalley vibes,’ referring to the Saturday Night Live character who represents people trying too hard to sound positive instead of being genuine.

‘I cannot get over how he continues to patronize the audience like… just f***ing deliver the news.

‘Get up and down on the news and stop trying to handhold your audience like they’re a bunch of babies who need you to stroke them through every update,’ Kelly declared.

Dokoupil’s debut ratings even fell short of Dickerson and DuBois’ debut last January by 19 percent and 24 percent, respectively.

‘[He] will not work on CBS, which is where, like the most serious, somber news consumers go for their news. They do not want “T’Oprah.” He’s got a man up and stop doing this.’

Kelly shifted gears back to slamming Weiss, saying the editor-in-chief has no television experience, only editorial, and it’s ‘ruining’ the news network.

‘I’m sorry, but Bari has zero television experience, ZERO . It’s called broadcast news for a reason.

‘The broadcast piece of it matters, and she doesn’t know what she’s doing. It shows.’

In the ratings race among the evening news broadcast, NBC Nightly News with Tom Llamas delivered its first win the key A26-54 demographic.

Nielsen figures show it’s NBC’s first victory over ABC for Llamas since he took over from David Muir in the anchor chair in June.
