Emergency crews respond to major incident at LaGuardia Airport

Emergency crews are reportedly responding to an incident at LaGuardia Airport in New York late on Sunday night.

Reports on social media circulated late on Sunday night that an aircraft had seemingly collided with a second vehicle on the tarmac.

The New York Police Department could not confirm a crash but told the Daily Mail that it was aware of an incident.

Photos shared on social media appeared to show the aircraft involved was an Air Canada flight.

Images revealed multiple individuals crowded around the plane, with the nose of the aircraft appearing damaged.

It is unclear if there have been any injuries or whether flights are still operating as scheduled.

The Federal Aviation Administration announced a ground stop due to an aircraft emergency, effectively closing LaGuardia Airport.

The airport closed at 11.50 pm EST, and a ground stop has been issued until at least 1.30 am EST.
