Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler has prompted speculation he has undergone another hair transplant after surprising fans with a drastic new look in pre-season.
The 33-year-old was seen with a shaved head on the touchline as he took charge of the Seagulls friendly against Roma at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Hurzeler’s new look was vastly different from the full head of hair he had when Brighton ended the Premier League season back in May against Manchester United.
The German coach had been seen with a shaved head during the summer’s World Cup, having travelled to watch the tournament and work as a pundit.
Brighton fans have commented on Hurzeler’s hair throughout their build-up to the new Premier League season, with supporters convinced he has undergone a hair transplant.
‘Couldn’t even focus on what the coach said, his head,’ one fan responded to a post-match interview.

‘I’m sorry Fab but your hair distracted me,’ another wrote.
‘He’s previously been open about having had one [a transplant] done, maybe he needed a top,’ a third said.
‘He’s had a previous hair transplant which probably didn’t give him the density he wanted so had been using hair fibres to ‘thicken’ his hair up’, another claimed.

Hurzeler had previously suggested he had undergone a hair transplant after joking about comparisons between him and former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp during his first season at Brighton.
‘In England I’m already being compared to Jurgen – which we can leave alone because he was much more successful and had a unique career,’ Hurzeler told BILD in 2024.
‘The only comparison that fits is that we both had our hair enhanced a bit.’
Hurzeler’s hair had previously attracted the attention of Brighton fans after he was named as the club’s manager back in 2024, with comparisons made to Jim Carrey’s character in the film ‘Dumb and Dumber’.

Hurzeler will have been impressed with what he saw on the pitch as Brighton earned a 3-0 victory over Roma in their latest pre-season match.
Georginio Rutter opened the scoring for the Seagulls, with Yasin Ayari scoring either side of half-time.
New signings Luka Vuskovic, Costinha and Zadoc Yohanna were among those involved, but Brighton suffered a scare when Yankuba Minteh limped off injured.
‘We took it quite seriously. I think also Roma took it quite seriously,’ Hurzeler said.
‘In their pressing, we could see that they had really analysed us and they tried to make it difficult for us.
‘But overall, I think we brought a lot of energy and intensity on the pitch. We controlled the game with a good structure.
‘In possession, we scored goals, we defended well, so overall it was a good performance.’
