Driver plows into crowd at packed Colorado bicycle festival injuring at least six people
At least six people were rushed to the hospital in Colorado after a driver drove their truck onto a sidewalk near an annual bicycle festival.
The crash occurred around 11.50am on Saturday in the 100 block of West Mountain Avenue in Old Fort Collins, Fort Collins Police Services spokesperson J Gilmore said.
Police then responded at around 12.30pm, and found six people – including the driver of the vehicle – injured.
They were all sent to local hospitals, where their conditions remained unclear Saturday evening.
The crash occurred amid the Tour de Fat costume bicycle festival, which drew tens of thousands of pedestrians and cyclists to the area, though it is not yet clear whether any participants of the festival were struck.
It is also unclear whether the driver of the vehicle was arrested or issued a citation in the collision as the Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling team conduct an investigation.
In the meantime, pedestrians have been told to avoid the area even as festivities continue.

The Tour de Fat is an annual costumed bicycle parade followed by a party at New Belgium Brewing, featuring music, entertainment, contests and games.
Attendance is free, but proceeds obtained from the beer sales go to Bike Fort Collins, the Overland Mountain Bike Association, the Fort Collins Bike CO-OP and Send Town Bike Club.
