Tigst Assefa and Guye Adola have won the Berlin Marathon 2026 as the major circuit continues.

Assefa, the women’s only world record holder and back-to-back London Marathon winner, dominated the women’s race to come home in 02:11:04.

The Ethiopian surged past compatriots Bedatu Hirpa and Dera Dida to clinch a third title in Berlin, following wins in 2022 and 2023, by more than five minutes.

And in a fiercely competitive men’s race, following the withdrawal of world record holder Sabastian Sawe after his sub-two hour run in London earlier this year, Adola of Ethiopia triumphed in 2:02:50, carving out a nine-second lead heading before the final 7km to leave Gemechu Dida Diriba and Gabriel Geay in second and third.
