Jos Buttler misses out through injury and Jofra Archer is rested for England’s upcoming ODI tri-series against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
From 18 October, England will play two matches against each side in Pakistan, before the tri-series final on 31 October in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, as Brendon McCullum’s side look to build on the recent home white-ball success against Sri Lanka.
England beat Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20 series and 2-1 in the ODI series last month but two stars from those matches won’t be travelling to Asia, with Buttler missing out due to the hamstring injury he sustained during the recent series and Archer rested as they continue to manage the fast bowler’s workload.

In better news, Adil Rashid is fit again after a hand injury ruled him out of the Sri Lanka wins, while Sam Curran returns from a groin injury.
On pitches that should spin plenty, Glamorgan leggie Mason Crane – who is uncapped in the ODI format – is called into the squad eight years after making his previous England appearance in the fifth Test of the 2018 Ashes in Sydney.
Sussex pair James Coles and Henry Crocombe, who were both part of white-ball squads this summer but are yet to make their debuts, are also included, while Joe Root continues his busy year by being included in a squad captained by Harry Brook.
England selector Marcus North said: “The tri-series in Pakistan provides another valuable opportunity for our ODI squad to test themselves against quality opposition in different conditions.
“Adil Rashid and Sam Curran return to the squad following their respective injuries while Jofra Archer has been rested to manage his workload following a busy summer.
“Mason Crane has been performing consistently for Glamorgan across both formats during the summer. He’s an experienced, high-class leg-spinner who thoroughly deserves another opportunity at international level.”
Kevin Pietersen is not part of McCullum’s coaching staff for this series, which was always expected but the former England batter will resume his mentor role for the winter series against Australia and South Africa.
After Marcus Trescothick was placed in interim charge for the 3-0 Test series win at home to Pakistan, he is given this series off and Mike Yardy will step up as batting coach after time coaching in England’s youth set-up.
