Arsenal tell staff 60 jobs are to be cut… just days after manager Mikel Arteta was rewarded for Premier League title success with £20m a year contract

Arsenal have told staff they are planning to cut 60 jobs, just months after the club ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title.
The redundancies will focus on off-field areas, and not affect the coaching or backroom staff of the men’s or women’s teams, the club’s community operation, the Arsenal Foundation and security staff.
The news comes just a week after Arsenal announced Mikel Arteta had signed a lucrative four-year contract worth around £20million per year, making him the highest paid manager in the top flight.
Staff were told by the club on Tuesday that 60 jobs will be cut
In February, the north London club said they had almost broken even for the 2024-25 financial year, recording an overall loss of £1.4m, while announcing record revenues of £691m.
While winning the title helped them to a total of almost £200m in prize-money last year, they will also have paid out millions in bonuses to players as part of their contracts.
High-profile departures in recent months include chief commercial officer Juliet Slot and long-serving general counsel Svenja Geissmar.
