Brittany Hockley’s wedding chaos after her private nude photos end up floating in the pool and guests scramble to recover them
A playful wedding trend designed to surprise Brittany Hockley’s new husband ended in chaos when her cheeky Polaroids escaped his jacket pocket and began floating around the reception pool in view of all their guests.
The Life Uncut host has revealed the hilarious mishap for the first time, admitting she found herself sprinting across the venue and diving into the pool in her wedding dress to rescue the photos before anyone could take a proper look.
The story surfaced as Hockley and co-host Laura Byrne answered a listener’s question about the trend of brides giving their groom intimate Polaroids throughout the wedding day.
The intimate photo trend gaining popularity
The listener, preparing to get married in September, said her partner loved the idea of bridesmaids discreetly delivering photos to the groom during the reception, but wondered how revealing the images should be.
‘I’m all for a cheeky photo, but what if a naked photo of me falls out of his jacket pocket and is seen by a family member?’ she asked.
Hockley admitted she’d embraced this trend at her own wedding to Swiss footballer Ben Siegrist in June 2025.
‘It’s a trend where you take nude Polaroids and either deliver them to your groom throughout the night or get your bridesmaids to do it,’ she said.

‘I actually love this trend. I think it’s cute. I’ve seen it work really well for a lot of people.’
The photos were taken during her hens weekend by close friend and bridesmaid Keeshia Pettit, alongside her sister and other bridesmaids.
While some shots were meant to be sexy, Hockley admitted most ended up being deliberately ridiculous.
‘I took some that were hot, but 90 per cent of them were not,’ she laughed.
‘I was Superman [posing] through the air… one boob was flattened by gravity and honestly, they were not hot.
‘I just wanted Ben to laugh,’ Hockley added.
A sweet tradition with unexpected results
The gesture felt especially fitting because Polaroids had long been a tradition in the couple’s relationship.
The photos were taken during Hockley’s hens weekend by close friend and bridesmaid Keeshia Pettit, alongside her sister and other bridesmaids
‘Ben and I have a Polaroid book … and every time we go on holiday we take Polaroids and put them in our book,’ Hockley explained.
Her bridesmaids spent the reception secretly handing Ben the photos one by one, filming his reactions as he laughed before slipping each picture safely into his jacket pocket.
There was one close call, immediately after Hockley herself gave him another photo herself.
‘As soon as I did that, his mum and dad walked over to congratulate us,’ she recalled.
‘I panicked and said, “F***, put the nude away”.’
He tucked it into his pocket, and the newlyweds quickly forgot about it.
Polaroids in peril: the pool incident
Like many wedding receptions, the formalities eventually gave way to spontaneous fun, as guests decided to jump into the pool fully clothed.
Ben followed without hesitation.
When everyone climbed out, Hockley suddenly heard one of his friends calling from the water: ‘What are these?’
Moments later, everything clicked.
‘I looked at Ben and saw his jacket was off,’ she said.
‘All my nudes were floating around the pool at my wedding.’
Hockley said she immediately ran towards the water in her wedding dress, ready to dive in.
‘I was running in my wedding dress to launch into the pool.
‘I could see Ben’s friends picking up the nudes and looking at them.’
Despite the poolside mishap, Hockley still thinks the idea is worth trying. Byrne agreed, encouraging couples to embrace whatever makes the day memorable
Fortunately, she believes only one person managed to properly see a photo before tossing it straight back.
‘They looked at it, went, “Gah!”, and threw it back in the pool.’
The newlyweds dived back into the water together, frantically gathering every floating photo before anyone else could.

‘I had no full nudes. I had underwear on, or a G-string. It was only my boobs out in different poses,’ she said.
‘It’s supposed to be cheeky and fun, and maybe get you a bit excited for when you go home.’
Byrne agreed, encouraging couples to embrace whatever makes the day memorable.
‘I think if it’s a wedding, do tasteful and artful nudes,’ she said.
‘Anything you can do to make the wedding day fun and special, so that you have those moments with your partner – go for gold.’
