Chris Meloni Has ‘Law & Order’ Reunion With Mariska Hargitay While “Freshly Unemployed” After ‘Organized Crime’ Cancellation

Although Law & Order: Organized Crime is over, Stabler and Benson are still partners for life behind the scenes.
Following the spin-off’s cancellation after five seasons, Detective Elliot Stabler star Christopher Meloni reunited with Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star Mariska Hargitay, who has played Olivia Benson for the show’s 27-season run.
“What one does on a random Thursday when still in LA and freshly unemployed. Dinner hang with pals @therealmariskahargitay,” Meloni captioned photos from the outing.
Last week, Deadline exclusively reported that Law & Order: Organized Crime was canceled after five seasons at Peacock and NBC, following a soft outreach for a new showrunner earlier this year.
Meloni later took to Instagram to thank the franchise’s fans for the “great ride” on his spin-off, which ran since 2021, following his 12-season run on SVU from 1999 to 2011. “P4L [partners for life],” commented Hargitay.
Meanwhile, Law & Order: SVU continues its record-breaking streak as TV’s longest-running primetime live-action series after it was renewed for Season 28 this month.
Meloni’s next TV gig comes as the lead of Dan Fogelman’s upcoming NFL drama, The Landis on Hulu.
