College football rankings REVEALED: New No 1 in the country after stunning comeback as Oregon falls FIFTEEN spots
An enthralling Week 2 of the college football season saw two top-five teams plummet after shocking upsets.
After coming back from a 20-point deficit, Texas is the new No. 1 team in the country in the Associated Press Poll following their victory over previous No. 1, Ohio State.
The Longhorns were down 23-3 going into the final quarter of the game before scoring three unanswered touchdowns against the Buckeyes to win 24-23.
Texas now climbs three spots after entering last week as the No. 4 team in the nation.
Behind the Longhorns, No. 2 Georgia and No. 3 Notre Dame stood pat after their blowout wins over Western Kentucky and Rice, respectively.
The top-five was rounded out by Indiana and Miami at fourth and fifth respectively.

The Buckeyes fell five spots down to No. 6 as a result of the stunning defeat
Just outside of the top-five is Ohio State, which plummeted five spots to No. 6 in the latest poll.
The remainder of the top-ten is as follows: No. 7 LSU (45-14 win over Louisiana Tech), No. 8 Mississippi (41-9 win over Charlotte), No. 9 Texas A&M (48-20 win over Arizona State) and No. 10 Alabama (45-17 win over Kentucky).
BYU rose the second-most number of spots after their close victory over conference rivals Arizona. Behind them is No. 12 USC, which won a 49-30 gunfight over Louisiana-Lafayette.
While Texas Tech stayed pat at No. 13, Penn State and Tennessee climbed to round out the top-15.
After No. 16 SMU (56-10 win over UC Davis), No. 17 Utah (43-10 win over Arkansas) and No. 18 Iowa (16-13 win over rivals Iowa State), there’s this week’s largest climber: No. 19 Michigan.
The Wolverines fell out of the top-25 last week after their controversial Hail Mary win over Western Michigan. But a strong win over Oklahoma put them back into the top-25.
Missouri’s win over rivals Kansas rounded out the top-20 before the poll turned to No. 21 Oregon.
The Ducks were a preseason favorite to win the national championship. But after a much-too-close win over Boise State, they lost 39-31 to unranked Oklahoma State and fell 15 spots in this week’s poll.
Michigan, which fell out of the poll in Week 2, is back at No. 19 after their win over Oklahoma
Meanwhile, Oregon fell from No. 6 to No. 21 after their humiliating loss to Oklahoma State
This week’s biggest game sees Lane Kiffin return to Ole Miss months after he left the team
It’s the largest fall of the day, just ahead of Oklahoma. The Sooners fell 13 spots from No. 11 to No. 24 after their aforementioned defeat to Michigan.
Looking ahead to Week 3’s matchups, there are three ranked-on-ranked games to captivate audiences.
On Friday evening, No. 22 Houston takes on in-state rivals No. 13 Texas Tech in Lubbock.
The following day, No. 16 SMU and No. 23 Louisville face off in Kentucky in a matchup that could have major implications for the ACC title race.
But the biggest game of the week – and possibly the season – is when Lane Kiffin returns to Mississippi as No. 7 LSU takes on No. 8 Ole Miss months after he left the team before their College Football Playoff berth.
