Dave Hughes Confirms He Peed In Melanie Bracewell’s Cup

Australian comedian Dave ‘Hughsey’ Hughes has admitted to pissing in Melanie Bracewell‘s drinking glass during a gig, claiming it was to avoid an embarassing on-stage mishap.

Alongside his rants about the Albo government, federal budget and negative gearing, the former Masked Singer AU judge made headlines on Monday after fellow comedian and TV host Melanie Bracewell claimed he urinated in one of her drinking glasses during a stand-up gig.

“By the way, the first time we met he peed in one of my glasses I use for stage because he couldn’t go out to the bathroom,” Bracewell claimed in the comments of one of her TikToks about the comedian.

In a follow-up to her initial claim, Bracewell shared another TikTok featuring DMs between her and Hughesy from April 26, 2022.

In the screenshot, Hughesy wrote, “Can we ring you on our radio show to talk backstage cups today? Just after 7am? Will plug Cheap Seats!”.

In response, Bracewell replied, “Oh yo! I just woke up hahaha”. Hughesy confirmed they did the story before asking, “Do you want the glass back?”, which she declined.

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, Hughesy confirmed that he made a wee in her drinking glass, but insists it was to avoid an on-stage accident.

“I’ve done it maybe four times in my life before solo shows when the backstage had no toilet… I didn’t want to wet myself onstage,” he told the publication.

“Absolutely never when anyone else was around, that would be terrible! I certainly don’t look for glasses to pee in as a way to pass time,” he added before admitting that he’s been roasted for the stunt.

“Peter Helliar had a go at me about it once, and I think Mel was in the same venue. I asked her to come on my radio show and roast me about it, she did, we all laughed a lot,” Hughes added.

“I had no idea she was so aghast; she did a great job in joining in on the group ridicule of me, and then we gave her tour and TV show a big plug. I don’t want to feud with another comic over things we laughed about.”

He then promised that he wouldn’t pee in anyone’s “finest glassware”, calling it a “real promise, not an Albo promise”.

“What if no one ever invited me anywhere anymore because they think I’m gonna wee in their finest glassware? I promise I won’t,” he said.

The piss-take kicked off when Bracewell made a TikTok about a recent online encounter she had with Hughesy.

“The other day I wrote this pretty harmless joke about Hughesy, um, that he’s living from his tenants’ paycheck to tenants’ paycheck. Just a bit of fun. He’s a battler, just trying to put eight roofs over his head, you know?” she said in the TikTok, referring to an X post she made where she wrote: “You gotta feel for Hughesy, he’s living from his tenants’ paycheck to tenants’ paycheck.”

“Mel, I’m not part of the thievery gang. I’m trying to stop them. So many honest people are afraid to speak up because of the real fear of violent reprisal. You are doing the less fortunate a disservice by attacking people who speak out against corruption,” Hughesy wrote in the comments of the X post, to which Bracewell replied, “It’s a joke, Hughesy; remember when you did those!”

“And the whole thing about freedom of speech is that, like, we’re also free to make fun of you if we think that you’re full of… maybe the guy with like a hundred houses isn’t really looking out for the best interests of the battler,” Bracewell said in her TikTok.

The TikTok then switched over to DMs between the pair, where Hughesy went on a political rant during Bracewell’s B-day.

“It’s my birthday, Hughesy, I’m not reading all this,” she responded.

Hughesy has been embroiled in controversy in recent months for his pointed political rants and public distaste for the Albanese government’s handling of the budgets, negative gearing, and capital gains tax.

Recently, the comedian admitted his wife wasn’t too happy about his pivot to political content. Now, I wonder where she stands on this pissy situation.
