Defence push: Aatmanirbharta means collaboration, not isolation, says Rajnath Singh

NEW DELHI: The government is encouraging collaborations with foreign manufacturers for technology transfers and creation of joint ventures, as the concept of ‘Aatmanirbharta’ does not mean working in isolation, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Vadodara, he said collaborations with foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers have seen tangible outcomes being achieved. He also mentioned the Tata-Airbus Aircraft Complex in Vadodara for manufacturing C-295 transport and L&T’s K 9 Vajra manufacturing facility at Hazira as examples of cutting-edge defence production in the country.

Singh called upon regional industries to become partners in the journey towards strengthening national defence manufacturing capabilities.
