ESPN set for huge change to daily schedule as NFL analyst is handed new afternoon show… and fans are delighted
ESPN is expanding its daily schedule of programming by taking one of their popular analysts and giving him a show of his own.
A new daily show is being built around NFL analyst Peter Schrager and is set to debut later this month in a move first reported by Andrew Marchand of The Athletic and later announced on ESPN.
The program, called ‘Big Day with Peter Schrager,’ will run for one hour from Monday to Thursday beginning at 2:00pm ET.
An announcement revealing the show was made on The Pat McAfee Show, which will soon precede Schrager’s new program.
The show replaces a mid-day block of SportsCenter that aired prior to NFL Today.
‘This whole day has been surreal,’ Schrager admitted. ‘I cannot freakin’ wait, dude, this is awesome. Lifelong dream and we’re gonna kick a** doing it.’

The show will expand to a Monday-Friday run outside of the football season. During the football season, a new college football program ‘Bussin with Pate’ – hosted by Josh Pate and Bussin with the Boys co-hosts Taylor Lewan and Will Compton – will take the Friday 2-3pm slot.
Schrager, 44, is set to be joined by multiple panelists each day, per The Athletic. This includes ex-players, reporters, and possibly celebrities.
The outlet says some of the expected guests include Steve Smith, Jason McCourty, Adam Schefter, Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo and more.
Fans celebrated the news on social media: ‘This new show timing could be a nice little reset for the middle of the day, hoping it lands softly for all who need that familiar face on TV,’ wrote one user on X.

The New Jersey native rose to prominence covering football at NFL Network, where he worked as a main component of the company’s popular show Good Morning Football.
Schrager was signed to ESPN last year and has made multiple appearances on the network’s morning shows Get Up and First Take – as well as on NFL Live.
