Everything We Know About ‘Bridgerton’ Season 5 So Far

As viewers retire the Cinderella slippers — or the white glove and Sophie’s amethyst necklace — they can look forward to Season 5 of Bridgerton following Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela’s (Masali Baduza) love story.

It looks as though Season 6 will then follow Eloise’s love story, because Brownell told Deadline that the two sisters were next, order notwithstanding, at a premiere red carpet for Season 4.

For everything we know about Season 5 of Bridgertonread on:

Has Bridgerton Season 5 started production?

Yes, cameras are now rolling on Francesca’s (Hannah Dodd) and Michaela’s (Masali Baduza) love story. Production started March 24, 2026.

What will Bridgerton Season 5 be about?

Francesca’s chance at second love is explored in the sixth book of Julia Quinn’s best-selling series, When He Was Wicked. In the novel, Francesca finds new love with John’s cousin Michael Stirling, a man. Michaela was introduced at the end of Season 3 of Netflix’s series in a gender-bending move that showrunner Jess Brownell felt was natural.

In the book, Michael inherits John’s title, making him the new Earl of Kilmartin. On the heels of Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie’s (Yerin Ha) love story challenging convention in the ton by bridging a class divide, Season 5 is bound to further question social structure in multiple ways.

So far, the summary for Season 5 reads, “Two years after losing her beloved husband John, introverted middle Bridgerton daughter Francesca (Dodd) decides to reenter the marriage mart for practical reasons. But when John’s cousin Michaela (Baduza) returns to London to tend to the Kilmartin estate, Fran’s complicated feelings will have her questioning whether to stick to her pragmatic intentions or pursue her inner passions.”

Will there be new characters in Bridgerton Season 5?

That Alexander (Mobland, The Sandman), Jacqueline Boatswain (Carnival Row) and Gemma Knight Jones (Mobland) are set as new cast additions.

Alexander will play Christopher Anderson, a Regency-era Casanova who could give the Bridgerton bachelors a run for their money. Behind his cheeky facade lies a current of self-doubt that threatens to unravel the son of Lord Anderson, who will make his mark on society, one way or another.

Boatswain will play Helen Stirling, Michaela’s mother and the very source of her spirit. A marriage-minded mama like the rest, Helen guides, and sometimes pushes, her daughter through London’s social season, with tough love as well as excitement.

Jones will play Lady Elizabeth Ashworth, an old friend of Michaela’s who serves as her confidante and London guide. While charming and playful, Elizabeth can also be a grounded realist who is wise to the unspoken rules of society.

What happened in Bridgerton Season 4?

Signs from the end of Season 4 had pointed to this installment being next with the death of Francesca’s first love John Stirling (Victor Alli) and Michaela’s departure from Kilmartin House in London — despite Francesca asking her to stay there — in the wake of John’s passing.

Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Sophie (Yerin Ha) led Season 4 with their cross-class love story. Sophie Baek, a lady’s maid who attended Lady Violet Bridgerton’s (Ruth Gemmell) masquerade ball disguised, met Benedict that night, and both of them fell in love. But Benedict’s search for the “Lady in Silver” following the dance yielded no results, as she did not exist in the form he had met her.

Split into two parts, Season 4 watched Sophie and Benedict meet again in their class stations, and the love found its way back between them, despite society dictating that they could not marry due to their difference in standing.

Are there more seasons of Bridgerton in the works?

Yes, Netflix served the series a double renewal ahead of Season 4’s debut, meaning a sixth season will for sure arrive on the streamer in the future. It looks as though Season 6 will then follow Eloise’s love story, because Brownell told Deadline that the two sisters were next, order notwithstanding, at a premiere red carpet for Season 4.
